Terms of Use
Effective 3 November 2026
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are the end-user licence agreement between you and TBD (“we”, “us”) for the FRET app and this website. By downloading or using FRET you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app.
1. Subscriptions and purchases
FRET is free to download. FRET Pro unlocks extra features and is available as:
- Yearly — €4.99 per year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers;
- Monthly — €1.49 per month;
- Lifetime — €19.99, a one-time purchase.
Prices are shown in euros and may differ in your country’s App Store. The price shown in the app before you confirm is the price you pay.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase, or at the end of the free trial.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- If you buy a subscription during a free trial, any unused part of the trial ends when the subscription starts.
- Purchases are handled by Apple under its terms, and refunds are decided by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Use “Restore purchase” in the app to restore Pro on another device with the same Apple ID.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use FRET on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, including use by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app except as the law allows.
3. Your account and your content
An account is optional. If you create one, keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. You can delete it any time in the app (You → Settings → Account → Delete account) — see Delete your account.
Recordings and other content you create belong to you. If you back them up to your account, you allow us to store, process and transmit them only to provide the backup and sync service to you. Don’t upload content you don’t have the right to.
The app may show reminders, notifications and in-app messages about FRET. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings or in the app (You → Settings → Notifications).
4. Acceptable use
Don’t misuse FRET: don’t interfere with the service, try to access other people’s data, or use it for anything illegal.
5. Health and safety
Loud audio through headphones or speakers for long periods can damage your hearing; keep the volume comfortable. Practice routines are suggestions — stop if you feel pain or strain.
6. No guarantee of results
FRET’s tuner, chord recognizer and timing tools aim to be accurate but can be affected by your device, microphone and surroundings. FRET does not assess how well you play: practice history shows the time and tempos you practised, not verified skill.
7. Warranty and liability
To the extent permitted by law, FRET is provided “as is”. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for FRET in the 12 months before the claim.
8. Apple-specific terms
If you got FRET from the App Store, the following also applies:
- Acknowledgement. These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for FRET and its content.
- Scope of licence. Your licence is limited to use on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions (see section 2).
- Maintenance and support. We are solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for FRET. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support services for the app.
- Warranty. We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If FRET fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are our responsibility.
- Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to FRET or your possession and use of it, including (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims that FRET or your possession and use of it infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Developer name and address. Questions, complaints or claims about FRET: TBD, TBD, support@getfret.app.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using FRET, such as your wireless data service agreement.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
9. Changes and termination
We may update FRET and these Terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it applies. You can stop using FRET at any time. We may suspend access, including to an install or account, if you seriously breach these Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of TBD. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and can bring claims in your local courts.
